Divisions : an asymmetrical triangle-shaped shawl with divisions of two-color brioche and garter stitch, alternating in stripes of different color combinations, ending with a striking basket weave border which combines garter stitch and two-color brioche.

Yarn Notes:
This shawl uses 3 skeins of light fingering weight yarn! Colors A & B use less than 400 yards / 366 meters, but Color C uses over 400 yards / 366 meters. Grab 3 different colors with high contrast and knit a gigantic squishy shawl filled with tons of brioche and garter stitch! See my yarn in skein form in the last photo here.

Skill level:
This is a fabulous beginner brioche shawl for those wanting to learn two-color brioche knit flat!!

Techniques used:
knit, purl, knit increases, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brkyobrk (2-st brioche increase), sl1yo, Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Bind Off, sideways triangular shawl knitting.

This pattern has written instructions only.

Construction Notes:
This asymmetrical triangle shawl is knit from side to side, casting on very few stitches, then increasing stitches only on the left edge of the shawl until binding off. You will be alternating between garter stitch stripes and two-color brioche wedges, which will continue until the basket weave border. You will also be alternating your colors so you can see every combination together, with the garter stitch stripes blending each stripe to the next. Once you get to the border, you will be working garter stitch and two-color brioche in the same row, creating an interesting basket weave texture!

Asymmetrical triangle shawls are my favorite shawl shape! I love styling this one around my neck and shoulders kerchief-style, showing off the interesting textural stripes. It’s so easy to throw on over your favorite outfit!
