Yarn: Head over to Fru Valborg if you’d like to get some of the yarn I used for my sample!

Sizzle Pop Sweater : A fitted circular yoke sweater knit from the top down in two-color brioche, showcasing my favorite POP! stitch pattern in the yoke, hem and tiny cuff details.

This sweater was inspired by some of my very first designs, my Pop Fizzle HatSizzle Pop shawl and Pop Twizzle cowl. This is one of the first brioche stitch patterns that I developed and have always dreamed of designing a top-down circular yoke sweater pattern featuring this popular stitch. My dream has finally come true, and thanks to the help of yarn support from Fru Valborg, my tech editor and test knitters, now you can also knit one for yourself!!

For the best results in your sweater, I highly recommend choosing a speckled or variegated for your MC and a solid or semi-solid yarn for your CC. I chose to have my CC be almost a shadow of my MC, but you could go bold with high contrast, or stick with a subtle contrast. If you want to have a similar drape and gauge to my sweater, feel free to use Merino Wool, or a blend of Wool and Silk or even Cashmere for the ultimate luxurious sweater.

Skill level:
Intermediate – advanced.

Techniques used:
knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases, circular yoke shaping, knitting in the round, Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Bind Off.

Construction Notes:
This circular yoke pullover sweater is knit from the top down, starting with a two-color brioche neckband. After working this neckband, you will begin the circular yoke shaping, where the star of the show will be showcased: A Pop Band of my favorite brioche stitch pattern! You might recognize this stitch pattern from my Pop Fizzle HatSizzle Pop ShawlPop Twizzle Cowl and Sizz Wrap. This has been my dream sweater for years, and I’m so excited to finally share it with you! The Pop pattern will be worked across the Yoke, then you will work two more increase rounds to reach the corresponding Yoke depth for your size. After separating the Sleeves from the Body, you will work even two-color brioche until you reach the Hem and the Cuffs, where you will work another fun Pop of the leaf-like stitch pattern. Feel free to modify the length of the Body and Sleeves, I’ve made it easy to do so. Just be sure you have enough yarn if you want to lengthen them!

This sweater is perfect for layering over dresses with its slightly cropped silhouette. I also love styling it over high-waisted wide-leg jeans for a more casual look.

This pattern is both written and charted for your convenience!

Skill level:
Intermediate – advanced.

Techniques used:
knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases, circular yoke shaping

Construction Notes:
This circular yoke pullover sweater is knit from the top down, starting with a two-color brioche neckband. After working this neckband, you will begin the circular yoke shaping, gradually growing from Small to Large Briornaments, adorned with Baby Briornaments, all surrounded by a two-color garter stitch background to really help the brioche to pop. After completing the Large Briornaments, the sleeves will be separated from the body to work the Giant Briornaments which are also adorned with Baby Briornaments. Stitches are increased dramatically when beginning the body to create an A-line look. The body of the sweater is finished with a decorative two-color brioche hem. The sleeves mimic the body exactly, and are also increased and decreased in the exact right place to give them a puffed effect. There is some slight sleeve shaping before beginning the cuff, which matches the hem of the sweater.

This sweater is perfect for layering over dresses with its slightly cropped silhouette. I also love styling it over jeans for a more casual look.

Yarn goodies: Grab your yarn from Barker Wool and La Bien Aimée to create your own gorgeous sweater! Tons of color options are available, including my original colors used (see below).

Beaucoup d’Amis : A striking geometric circular yoke sweater knit from the top down, using a combination of stranded colorwork and a slip-stitch texture to create diamonds galore, with colorful accents at the neck, writsts and hem.

This sweater name is pronounced like this: BO-Koo Dah-mee! It is French for “a lot of friends”. I originally designed this sweater in collaboration with Dawn (Barker Wool) and Aimée (La Bien Aimée) at the Knitting in the Hills Retreat in 2023. It is such a wonderful retreat, filled with so many fiber friends.

Yarn Notes: Color B is a Lace weight yarn held double to make it closer to a Sport weight. See colors of my yarn in skein form in last photo.

Skill level:
Intermediate

Techniques used:
knit, purl, stranded colorwork knitting, slip-stitch texture, knitting in the round, short rows, knit increases and decreases, purl increases, Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Bind Off.

Construction Notes:
This deep circular yoke pullover sweater is knit from the top down, starting with a small accented ribbed neckband. After working this neckband, shorts rows will be worked to raise the back of the neck a bit. You will then begin the circular yoke shaping, which consists of striking graphic stranded colorwork in a diamond motif using the fuzzy laceweight yarn held double. This will create such a delightful texture! Increases will happen in a wedge shape evenly. As the yoke expands, the diamond motif will get larger and larger, until you reach the depth of the yoke needed. There will be some slight raglan shaping at the sleeves before separating. After you separate the Sleeves and Body, you will work one of my favorite slip-stitch diamond textures with your Color A yarn. The Body will be split at the Hem, to create an extremely comfortable garment for everyday wear! The Hem will mimic the neckband, using your Color C yarn as an accent. The Sleeves will be quite wide to create sort of a puffed sleeve, with a tight cuff, which is also worked using your Color C yarn for a lovely accent.

The deep yoke and oversized fit make this sweater perfect for a casual everyday look with jeans. You could also dress it up with slacks or a skirt!

This pattern is both written and charted for your convenience! The stranded colorwork yoke is charted only.
