The Drapiest Hat : A syncopated two-color brioche hat, knit completely in the round from the bottom up to create the squishiest and drapiest hat ever!

Grab 2 skeins of DK weight for this luscious two-color brioche hat!! This is a great project if you have any DK leftovers…say from your The Drapiest Cowl project? That’s exactly what I did with this pattern! I grabbed the leftovers and cast on a hat that is very similar to that cowl pattern, but a bit different. Sizing to fit a child up to a larger head, I hope you have fun making your own The Drapiest Hat!

Skill Level:
Beginner Brioche Friendly, but there are brioche decreases used for the crown shaping!!! I designed this hat for knitters who want to learn two-color brioche. Learning two-color brioche in the round is a fantastic and straight forward way to learn, I highly recommend it!

Techniques Used:
knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), sl1yo, br4st dec,Twisted German Cast On, knitting in the round

Construction Notes:
This hat is knit from the bottom up, beginning with the brim. You will cast on your stitches and knit the pattern using syncopated two-color brioche! This method is exciting because you will be switching what stitches you create depending on the color of your yarn. You will create syncopated two-color brioche stripes, which will get shorter and shorter as you progress. The crown of your hat is made using brioche decreases, arranged to create a perfect triangle end.

This hat is super drapey and a bit oversized. The brioche fabric combined with the nature of the yarn will create the most delectable drape! If you substitute yarn, this may change the nature of the fabric as well as the fit of your finished object.

I truly hope you enjoy brioche knitting, especially if you are new to this fascinating technique!
