Queensboro :: A chevron striped hat using one-color and two-color brioche stripes for a blending effect, named for my favorite bridge in New York.

This hat pattern is part of my Street Graffiti Collection, featuring 3 patterns all using the same brioche chevron stripes. This collection is inspired by the time I spent living in New York, and are all named for streets that are dear to me. In my heart, I am a true New Yorker. This pattern is named after my favorite bridge in New York, the Queensboro Bridge, which links Queens to Manhattan. Its rusted industrial look reminds me of Detroit, where I also lived for several years.

Fabulous for last minute gifts!! Grab 2 different colors of DK weight yarn to knit a fun blended hat! Feel free to use this pattern as more of a formula, adding as many or as few stripes as you want! Make thinner stripes, or thicker stripes! I have written out exactly the way I have knit mine, but be creative!! You could even knit a 4 color version, or a 2 color version with less striping and more of a total color fade!

Skill level: Intermediate. Basic brioche skills are not required, but are recommended. Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases.

Construction Notes: This hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. Knitting one-color brioche in the round is a bit different than knitting it straight. There is one round using brioche knitting (barking), and one round using brioche purling (burping). This is a fantastic transition to two-color brioche, which is the same idea except you bark the first round with one color, then burp the following round with the other color.

This pattern is both written and charted for your convenience!
