Description
When I cast this cardi on, I was calling it my “Super Duper Fuzztastic Wobble Gobble Cardi 5000”…..and the name just stuck. You can call it Fuzztastic for short. 😉 It is a cropped, reversible raglan cardigan with 3/4 sleeves, knit using two-color honeycomb brioche with two-color brioche edging details. This cropped cardigan is meant to be worn with 4 – 6” / 10 – 15 cm of positive ease, a perfect fit layered over your favorite outfit. It can be dressed up or down, and even worn as a jacket!
Jiayi is the dyer behind Wobble Gobble yarns, and she is just delightful! I fell in love with her use of color, and I was intrigued with the Suri Cloud – what would it be like knit with a smoother DK weight yarn? It is the perfect combination!! I hope you enjoy it.
Skill level: Intermediate. Basic brioche skills are highly recommended. Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), knitting in the round, brioche texture, brioche increases and decreases. Two-Color Honeycomb brioche is a beautiful texture created by using brioche knitting techniques. I have included a video tutorial link for this stitch pattern, which you can also find here: http://bit.ly/TwoColorHoneycomb. There are also gauge swatch instructions included in the pattern.
Construction Notes: This raglan cardigan is knit from the top down starting at the neck, using the two-color honeycomb brioche stitch. Several rows are worked to raise the back of the neck, then the raglan shaping continues until the sleeves are separated. These are placed on hold while the remaining body is worked. Stitches will be cast on at the underarms, which will also create a striped two-color brioche faux seam at each side. The cropped length is meant to hit at the small of the waist, and a short two-color brioche hem is added by switching which color shows on the MS for a nice contrast. The sleeves are then started, and the two-color brioche stripes will continue up the undersides. You will finish with a two-color brioche Button Band and neckline. Brioche increases are worked to create the fancy button holes.
Finished sizes: Bust circumference: 34 (38, 42, 46, 50) {54, 58, 62, 66}” / 86.5 (96.5, 106.5, 117, 127) {137, 147.5, 157.5, 167.5} cm. These sizes are the actual bust measurements of the garment. Choose your size based on your own bust measurement and add your desired ease. Sample is shown in Size 4 on a 40” / 101.5 cm bust, worn with 6” / 15 cm of positive ease. See Schematic included as the last photo here.

Many many thanks to Jiayi from Wobble Gobble for her amazing yarns and support!! I also want to thank my Tech Editor, Meaghan Schmaltz, for her expertise and help, and my awesome test knitters!! Without all of these wonderful people, this pattern would never have come to life. Be sure to check out my testers’ project pages if you want to see the cardi on a different size or in a different color combo!
