We Stick Together, Just Like Honey :: A symmetrical trapezoid shawl with stripes of two different honeycomb textures, and a two-color brioche lattice center panel, knit in collaboration with two amazing women of the knitting community.

This shawl pattern was created in collaboration with Jess of Shop La Mercerie and Carol of Swift Yarns, and I wanted to create something that would represent all three of us together in one design. Just Like Honey, we all stick together and build each other up in this community, and so I chose two different honeycomb stitch patterns for these wonderful ladies: Diamond Honeycomb for Jess and Two-Color Honeycomb Brioche for Carol, and I developed the Two-Color Brioche lattice pattern for the center panel. I am so incredibly proud to be a part of this wonderful knitting and fiber community.

You will need 4 skeins total, 2 of each color. I recommend choosing 2 colors with high contrast: a fun, bright speckle as your MC, and a deep tonal semi-solid for your CC. Feel free to use the Schematic provided in the pattern as a coloring sheet to test out your color choices, and use MORE than 2 colors for a super stripey stash buster version!

Skill Level: Intermediate – Advanced. Basic brioche skills are highly recommended. Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases, double brioche ribbing, honeycomb brioche, diamond honeycomb technique that is simply slipping stitches, no cables. I have provided video tutorial links to all techniques used in this pattern!

Construction Notes: This symmetrical trapezoid-shaped shawl is knit from side to side, starting and ending with very few stitches. The cast-on point is the upper left corner, and increases are worked along the right edge of the shawl within the stitch patterns for a cohesive look and continues to increase until the center panel. Two different honeycomb stitch patterns and alternating color blocks create vertical stripes, which keeps the pattern engaging. A Two-Color Brioche lattice pattern adorns the center, which is the focal point of this design. After working the intricate brioche lace honeycombs and stripes, you will begin to decrease at the right edge of the shawl until the bind off tip. The decrease right side of the shawl is worked with the opposite colors for a bold finish.

This pattern is both written and charted for your convenience!

I want to thank Jess from Shop La Mercerie for being such an inspiration in this community, and to Carol from Swift Yarns for her support. This collaboration has been such a dream! I also want to thank my amazing tech editor, Meaghan Schmaltz notsorryknitter, and all of my fabulous test knitters!! Without them, this pattern would not have been possible. Be sure to look at all of my test knitters’ projects for some serious color inspiration!
