TarrianceĀ : A luxurious cowl perfect for layering, knit using a combination of two-color brioche and simple lace.

TarrianceĀ is a synonym of Sojourn, meaning a delay or brief stay. I cast on this cowl pattern while waiting for a flight home from a wonderful fiber festival. I actually love delayed flights (if it doesnā€™t affect my trip too much) and long layovers. It is the perfect time for some quiet and rest. Sojourn is the name of the yarn used for this pattern, and one of the most luxurious I have ever worked with.

Yarn Notes:
Grab 3 skeins of fingering weight yarn in 3 different colors! This pattern was designed especially for 50g skeins like Sojourn. If you decide to substitute yarn, be sure to knit a gauge swatch to ensure you are happy with the fabric, the drape and at the pattern gauge. Please note that if you substitute yarn, finished size and yarn amounts will vary. You can easily modify your cowl by adding or omitting pattern repeats.

Yarn photo by Miss Babs included as last photo.

Needle Size Notes:
I used the same size needle for both the brioche and lace sections. Please feel free to go down a needle size for the brioche sections if need be.

Skill Level:
Beginner Brioche Friendly!!! I designed this cowl for knitters who want to learn two-color brioche. Learning two-color brioche in the round is a fantastic and straight forward way to learn, I highly recommend it! There are some brioche increases and decreases included.

Techniques Used:
knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), sl1yo, brioche increase, 2 brioche decreases, Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Bind Off, knitting in the round

Construction Notes:
This cowl begins with plain two-color brioche rib, one of my absolute favorite stitch patterns!! To add some dimension and interest to your cowl, you will switch to a simple lace pattern using an accent color! There will be 3 lace stripes throughout the cowl, breaking up the brioche knitting. For 2 of the brioche stripes, you will add some brioche increases and decreases for something a bit different.

The stitch patterns in combination with the luxuriousness of this yarn makes this cowl an absolute delight to wear! Throw it on easily over your favorite outfit to really dress it up, or even over your pajamas if youā€™re feeling chilly to add some luxury to your day.
