Description

Stelliferous : An ethereal circular yoke sweater knit using a combination of two-color brioche nebulas and two-color garter stitch backgrounds.

This sweater pattern was inspired by my Stellaire shawl, which uses the same brioche stitch pattern in a new and different way!

Be sure to check out La Bien Aimée for some amazing yarn! They have the original colors that I used in my sample, or you can grab some colors that inspire you!!

Skill level:
Intermediate – advanced. This is a great first-time brioche sweater pattern if you’d like to try to make one!

Techniques used:
knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases (no br4st dec!!), circular yoke shaping, knitting in the round

Construction Notes:
This circular yoke pullover sweater is knit from the top down, starting with a small two-color garter stitch neckband. After working this neckband, you will begin the circular yoke shaping, which consists of graphic vertical stripes of two-color brioche and two-color garter stitch. Increases will happen in both the brioche and garter portions so that it creates an even width between the two stitch patterns. As the yoke expands, the brioche increases and decreases begin to develop the nebula-like arrangement. After you separate the Sleeves and Body, the rest will be smooth sailing with simple two-color garter stitch. The Body will be knit straight for a cropped, boxy look. The Sleeves will be quite wide to create a puffed sleeve, with a tight cuff. This sweater is designed to be a faded or blended garment, so grab a fade or gradient of colors and blend them in when you begin to run out! Color Blending instructions are included for exactly how to add your next color.

This sweater is perfect for layering over dresses with its slightly cropped silhouette. I also love styling it over high-waisted wide-leg jeans for a more casual look.

Yarn Notes:
Yarn amounts are shown in MC and CC yarn for entire sweater. Yardages / meterages listed above are for each color (MC1, MC2, CC1, CC2, etc). These can all be different colors, choosing from a fade or gradient to create a gorgeous blended garment! I knit size 4, so only needed 4 different colors. The best way to choose your fade is to choose one color scheme for your MC and a separate one for your CC.

Needles:
16 – 40” / 40.5 – 101.5 cm US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles OR sizes needed to obtain gauge. DPN’s may also work for knitting small circumferences in the round.

Tools:
Tapestry needle, row counter, 2 lengths of smooth waste yarn or stitch holders, 1 stitch marker for noting beginning of round, 13 (14, 15, 18, 19) (20, 21, 24, 25, 26) additional contrasting markers for noting pattern repeats
