Description
This mug mat is the perfect accessory for your home and is small enough to protect your desk, yet large enough to fit your pot of tea. Using less than 100 yards of light worsted weight yarn, this pattern is a super quick knit and makes a great housewarming gift!
I was inspired by Moeke yarns to create durable, eco-friendly knit accessories for my home. This mug mat was actually knit as a sample for a larger tablecloth design.
The mat has a simple leaf lace center, surrounded by a faux cable ribbing on all four sides. No cable needle needed, these are all knit and purl stitches, with some slipped sts, increasing and decreasing. This pattern is both written and charted, for your convenience.
Yarn: I used 28 grams of Moeke yarns Stela (less than 1 skein), which is a light worsted weight 100% wool yarn. This is the equivalent to about 70 yards of a worsted weight yarn, making this a GREAT stashbuster project!!
Needle: Size 6 needle is perfect to use with the Moeke yarns Stela, if you choose to use that. I did find that when I knit this mug mat using a thicker worsted weight, the size 6 made for a more dense fabric, but I could still block it out to roughly the same size.
Other tools needed: Row counter, tapestry needle for weaving in ends
